- he was a constant innovator
- had his own way of redefining and solving problems
- he was a great leader
- he cared deeply for his troops and lived in the same conditions with them
- conquered the known world by his early thirties, spreading greek culture, a truly creative and cosmopolitan civilization, bridging West and East and accelerating change
